Ladera students and families,

Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year.  I am eagerly anticipating another wonderful year at Ladera as I welcome new students and their families to our first/second combo class.  This year marks my 9th year at Ladera and 16th career year teaching.  During that time I have taught single grades 1 - 4 in self contained classrooms, combo classes with lst/2nd, 2nd/3rd, and an ungraded primary 1st - 3rd.  Additionally, I substituted in grades 5 - 8 and 9-12 in single subject classrooms.  Whittier College is where I earned my Bachelor of Arts and last year completed a Masters of Arts in Education through Concordia University.  Though the highlight last year was being chosen as Ladera's Teacher of the Year.

For the past 38 years I have been married to Joe, a native of Orange County and graduate of Tustin High.  We have two sons and one daughter as well as two grandaughters (one a high school freshman and the other a kindergartener in Montana) and two grandsons (one a fifth grader and the other a second grader in Oceanside.)  I adore spending time with the family playing games, taking trips, and observing them participating in their favorite activities.  My personal time is spent reading, shopping, and socializing with family and friends.

I am thrilled and proud to be part of the Ladera family.  Children realizing their strengths and unique gifts and their use and sharing of these is the most wonderful reward I can receive doing what I love - teaching.   Children are the future and I will strive daily to guide them to powerfully impact their world.
