Bonnie Elconin, Kindergarten

Room 201

Dear Ladera Leopard Families,

I’m looking forward to another wonderful year here at Ladera!  It will be my seventh teaching Kindergarten, a grade I really love!

My undergraduate years were at UCLA where I majored in Spanish.  I did graduate work at USC, earning my elementary, secondary and adult education credentials along with a TESOL Certificate (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and a bilingual Credential in Spanish.  My teaching career began at an elementary school in inner city Los Angeles which I enjoyed for five years.  When I got married, I moved to Honolulu, Hawaii to join my husband, Allan, and taught at a private school in Honolulu for five years.  When we moved back to the mainland, we began our family.  Our son Adam was born in 1984 and our daughter Alexandra, in 1986.

I began teaching for Tustin schools with the Art Resource Program in 1996 after several years of various teaching jobs in South County.  When the art program was ended after six years, I was happy to join the staff at Ladera.

When I’m not working, I have fun spending time with my family, which includes our dog and cat, and with friends.  Other things I enjoy include reading, gardening, music, and traveling.

I’m excited about the upcoming 2010-2011 school year.  I know it will be interesting, inspiring, and fulfilling!  Welcome new Wonderful Wizards!
