Dear Ladera Leopard Families,
I am very excited to be returning to Ladera for the 6th year to teach the Structured Preschool Class of adorable 3 and 4 year olds.
I earned my B.A. degree in Communicative Disorders from California State University of Fullerton and went on to earn my M.S. degree in Early Childhood Education from the same University. I have attended training sessions through the Orange County Department of Education on many different programs such as the Assessment Focus Academy, the TEACCH program, and the SCERTS program. I consider myself very fortunate to come to work every day with these amazing children; they are truly a joy to be with every day.
I have been married for 24 years; I have two stepsons, a stepdaughter-in-law, three step-grandchildren, and one biological son. My son is in his third year as a Business Major at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. In my spare time I enjoy reading, scrapbooking, walking, bicycling and spending time with family and friends.
Last year my classroom began a new program based on collaboration with the Applied Behavior Analysis Program Manager and the additional service providers for the children in my classroom (i.e.- speech therapist, occupational therapist, adaptive physical education therapist and physical therapist). This new program allowed our team here at Ladera to provide the students with the most comprehensive learning experience we can offer to assist in preparing them for their future in the school setting. This summer I attended the 2 day training for the Picture Exchange Communication Program (PEC) and I am very excited to work closely with the ABA Manager, Sara Gomez and the ABA staff to fully implement this program into the classroom.
I look forward to meeting my new students and working with them to reach their potential and to foster in them a love for school during this 2011-2012 school year.
