DISTRICT STANDARDS
Standards Based Education
The State of California has begun the implementation of a Standards Based Education system. The State Board of Education has adopted Content Standards in reading/language arts, mathematics, history/social science, science, and technology.
In California, Standards Based Education refers to the concept of identifying by specific grade levels and content areas, what students should know and what students should be able to do. In general, there are content standards that apply to a specific discipline such as mathematics and curriculum standards that are the goals of classroom instruction.
